We are vertically integrated with our own agricultural division and manufacturing plants which differentiate us from our competitors. The Pictsweet Farms brand currently is in a strong #3 share position in the $4B+ frozen vegetable category. Headquartered in Tennessee, additional operations are in Arkansas, Delaware, Texas, Utah and California.
Company History
Pictsweet is a family owned company founded in Bells, TN in 1945 by J.O. Tankersley. Tank, as he was known by his friends, was a tough man, growing up in tough times. He earned an engineering degree from the University of Tennessee during the Great Depression. As an engineer with the Tennessee Valley Authority, Tank saw an opportunity to use the excess power generated by TVA's brand-new hydroelectric dams to reduce the cost of operating "quick freeze" commercial freezers. That power, coupled with the rich soil and hardworking farmers of rural West Tennessee, became the foundation for Pictsweet Frozen Vegetables. And so a family legacy was born.
Over 80 years later, Pictsweet has become one of the top three brands of frozen vegetables in the United States. Pictsweet is still headquartered in Tennessee, still owned by the Tankersley family. The company offers a full-line of frozen vegetables, and grows many vegetables including spinach, kale, collard greens, turnip greens, squash, green beans and edamame in the rich soil of Northwest, TN. Pictsweet farms or contracts more than 6,500 acres of TN farmland which has a major impact on Tennessee's agricultural industry. Mr. Tankersley built Pictsweet upon his personal values of honesty, hard work, fair play, perseverance and self-reliance. These values remain at the heart of The Pictsweet Company today.
